Movement & Exercise Coaching

Finding the right workout is one thing.

Making movement part of your life is another.

Most people don't need to be convinced that movement is important.

The challenge is doing it consistently.

You might have a gym membership you rarely use, a workout program sitting on your phone, equipment collecting dust at home, or a routine that works wonderfully for three weeks before disappearing when work gets busy.

Movement and exercise coaching focuses on that area between wanting to be active and creating a life in which movement actually happens.

With a coach, we explore the how and why behind the movement you’d like to incorporate into your life.

We explore coaching questions such as…

Why do you want to become more active?

What type of movement do you actually enjoy?

When does exercise realistically fit into your schedule?

What keeps interrupting your routine?

What happens when you miss a workout?

Are you setting a goal that works for your current life- or one designed for an imaginary version of your schedule?

Together, we can explore your relationship with movement, identify barriers, connect activity to your values and goals, and develop smaller actions that make consistency more realistic.

That might mean creating a morning walking habit, scheduling movement into your week, establishing a backup "10-minute option" for busy days, increasing everyday activity, finding forms of exercise you genuinely enjoy, or working on the all-or-nothing mindset that turns one missed workout into a missed month.

Movement doesn't have to happen exclusively inside a gym, either. We can explore regular movement throughout the day! From walking and taking the stairs to stretching, gardening and active time with family, it all adds up.

The coaching process can also help you experiment.

If a particular routine isn't working, the answer isn't automatically that you "lack discipline." Instead, we can examine what made the plan difficult and modify the strategy.

Setbacks are common! We use them as a source of information rather than failure.

As small actions become more consistent, confidence builds. Small achievable actions build momentum, small wins build confidence, and lasting habits begin to take root.

Movement & Exercise Coaching FAQs

What if I hate exercising?

That's a great coaching topic. We can explore what you've tried, what you dislike, and what forms of movement might feel more enjoyable or meaningful. Many people dislike a rigid gym routine or intense workout classes, and that’s more than okay! Not doing those things does not mean you aren’t doing “enough”. We can explore what you actually enjoy and how we can build from there to get the best of both worlds.

Is movement coaching the same as personal training?

There are differences between the two- Personal training generally focuses on exercise programming and instruction. Health coaching focuses on the behaviors, motivation, routines, barriers, and accountability surrounding movement. As a fitness instructor, who is currently working toward a personal trainer certification- I can certainly help educate and co-create workout plans with you, but as a coach we work as a collaborative partnership to allow you to forge the path toward your ideal movement/workout routine.

Can you work alongside my doctor or PT?

Absolutely! Coaching works beautifully alongside individualized medical exercise prescription or rehabilitation. Movement coaching is primarily focused on helping you implement safe movement goals and established exercise recommendations. For doctor or PT recommended exercise/stretching routines, working with a coach can make the difference in actually sticking to it and making long-term changes between appointments.
